Robbie Keane has jumped to the defence of Daniel Sturridge.

Amateur body language experts up and down the country have been keeping tabs on the actions of the striker who finds it easier to get into the England side than pull on a red jersey at club level.

Keane knows about the frustrations of being frozen out at Anfield but believes that Sturridge’s only crime is wanting to get a regular first team game.

I have played with players over the years who actually don’t mind sitting on the bench but I certainly don’t think Sturridge is like that at all,” the Irishman told Sporting Life.com.

“You can see he is desperate to play and with his quality it is only a matter of time.”

Sturridge was missing from the Liverpool side that beat Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday and has started just four Premier League matches this season while making five substitute appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Like Steven Gerrard, Keane has announced his decision to quit LA Galaxy but is still looking at playing options.

Shamrock Rovers are preparing a bid to bring Ireland’s record goalscorer to Dublin but there are other offers on the table from Australia, China Qatar and Dubai.
