He’s currently at the centre of a contractual stand-off with Real Madrid and now, The Mirror have linked Pepe with an end-of-season switch to Chelsea.

A long servant at Real Madrid having been at the Bernabeu since 2007, Pepe has won everything there is to win with Los Blancos but the Portuguese international will become a free agent at the end of the season.

In his current situation, the 33-year-old is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club from January 1st and Chelsea are certainly one of the clubs that could benefit from his services.

Ever since re-signing David Luiz on Deadline Day, Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with swoops for various additional centre back’s and Pepe is the latest in a long line of top class targets to be cast under the microscope.

The latest on Pepe’s situation at the Bernabeu is that Real Madrid have only offered Pepe a one-year contract extension while the defender’s camp are keen on this being a two-year agreement.
