They haven’t promoted youthful players so readily in the past but Chelsea are among several European giants checking on Alexander Isak after scouting the striker, report The Sun.

According to the publication, the Blues sent scouts to monitor the progress of the 17-year-old AIK Solna forward in the club’s game against IFK Gothenburg last weekend.

Dubbed the ‘next Zlatan Ibrahimovic’, the 6 ft 3 in striker has smashed in 10 goals in 22 senior appearances for AIK so far this season despite his slender years.

The interesting sub plot in this particular transfer pursuit however is the fact an incredible amount of clubs scouted Isak on the same weekend that Chelsea did.

It’s been reported that as many as 90 scouts were present during AIK’s 1-0 loss to IFK Gothenburg with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund scouts also running the rule over the young Swede.

With Real Madrid having also stolen a march on those clubs in scouting Isak much earlier against Elfsborg in September, Chelsea will find this particular transfer pursuit anything but straightforward.
