He’s been interesting Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United but now, Arsenal are also interested in signing Atalanta’s Ivory Coast international midfielder Franck Kessie, report the Daily Star.

According to Calciomercato, The Gunners deployed scouts at Atalanta’s Serie A fixture at home to Palermo in midweek whereby Kessie’s side lost 0-1 but on a personal note, the 19-year-old has made a fantastic start to the season.

Despite playing as a defensive midfielder, Kessie has already struck four goals in Atalanta’s opening five Serie A encounters, furthering alerting England’s elite clubs to his talent.

A defensive-minded star who is still able to score goals from deep much like Granit Xhaka in his current vein of form, Kessie has also earned four international caps with Ivory Coast to date despite still being a teenager.

What’s more, Kessie also admitted that he came close to joining David Moyes’ Sunderland in the recent summer transfer window but turned down the transfer due to the style of play employed at the Stadium of Light.

In the Daily Star’s article, Kessie is reported to have claimed: “In the summer I was close to Sunderland, it’s true.

“Then I chose Italy, for the tactics.”
