They eventually turned their attentions to Paul Pogba of course but former Manchester United target Renato Sanches has revealed the reason why he turned down a Red Devils switch, report IBTimes.

The 19-year-old Portugal international joined Bayern Munich for £30 million back in May with the player revealing that it was the German giants’ desire that proved the determining factor.

Speaking to The Sun, Sanches claimed: “I had a good feeling about it right away when I heard about Bayern Munich’s interest.

“They really put in a lot of effort and I immediately got a feeling the people in charge believed in me as a player. That was the decisive factor behind my decision to join Bayern.”

Ultimately, there was managerial uncertainty at Manchester United around the time Sanches secured his move to the Allianz Arena with Louis van Gaal succeeded by Jose Mourinho 17 days after the transfer was completed.

Still a teenager of course, Sanches is already a Euro 2016 winner having been a part of Fernando Santos’ squad that were successful in France over the summer.

As for his early days at Bayern, Sanches has started two of four games under Carlo Ancelotti in the Bundesliga thus far.
