Renato Sanches

According to reports from The Times, Manchester United face competition from Manchester City, PSG and Real Madrid in the battle to sign Renato Sanches during the summer transfer window.

The Benfica prodigy is just 18 years of age but has already become a permanence in their starting Xi, picked up two senior caps for Portugal and earned comparisons with Brazil icon Ronaldinho.

Manchester United saw a bid for the creative midfielder rejected during the January transfer window and according to The Times, are set to revive their interest at the end of the season.

But the Red Devils’ reluctance to meet the Primeira Liga outfit’s £39million-plus-incentives valuation has seen some of their biggest domestic and European rivals join the race for Sanches’ signature.

Indeed, The Times claim that Benfica have already rejected an approach from PSG, whilst Manchester City and Real Madrid are now expected to launch rival bids during the summer transfer window.

Incoming City manager Pep Guardiola, who’ll take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season, recently described the prodigious Portuguese as “one of the best young players in Europe, for his dynamism and personality.”
