But having never escaped the role of backup to Juventus’ famous three-man backline, the 28-year-old will leave the Italian giants when his contract expires at the end of the season – something director Giuseppe Morata has already confirmed.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Napoli, Roma and Inter Milan are all keen on the 5 foot 11 defender, who can operate as a wing-back or a full-back on either side or as a centre-half.
However, the Italian news outlet further claim that Caceres’ availability on a free transfer has also generated interest from Premier League duo Liverpool and Manchester United.
Liverpool have struggled defensively this season, especially at set pieces, whilst United are yet to find a long-term partner to first-choice centre-back Chris Smalling.
