According to reports from Mirror Football, Wales manager Chris Coleman has urged Gareth Bale to snub a future transfer to the Premier League.

The Welsh wizard left the English top flight in summer 2013 after claiming the PFA Player of the Year award, completing a record-breaking £86million transfer to Real Madrid.

The powerful winger has gone on to life a Copa del Rey and a Champions League title with Los Blancos, but his future at the Bernabeu remains in doubt.

Bale’s current contract doesn’t expire for another three years but according to Mirror Football, he’s set to reject the chance to sign an improved deal.

Manchester City and Manchester United are both keen to bring the 26-year-old back to the Premier League, potentially as soon as the summer transfer window.

But Wales boss Chris Coleman has revealed he wants Bale to stay in La Liga because it is played at a lower intensity than the Premier League.

As quoted by Mirror Football, he said; “I’d prefer to see Gareth stay in Spain with Real Madrid — purely for selfish reasons,” said Coleman.

“When you’re in the Premier League we all know how it is… a battle every week. It’s flat-out and if you are below 100 per cent you get found out. It is a physically demanding league. It’s a fantastic competition and up there with the best leagues in the world.

“But, in Spain, it doesn’t cause as much fatigue during the second half of the season. The quality is there, but the physical demands on players are different. But wherever Gareth plays his club football he will always have the full backing of me and everyone in the Wales set-up.”
