With his contract due to expire at the end of next season, Borussia Dortmund could be forced to cash in on the 27-year-old during the summer transfer window unless they tie him down to an improved deal.

Mirror Football recently revealed that Chelsea are targeting the Armenian international, who is reportedly looking to seal a transfer to a London club this summer.

But that appears to have brought long-term admirers Arsenal back into the race for Mkhitaryan’s signature, with Mirror Football now claiming the Gunners could end up in a straight-up transfer scrap with the Blues this summer.

Liverpool came close to signing Mkhitaryan in summer 2013, before he ultimately sealed a transfer to Dortmund instead, but they have not been tipped to revive their interest in the coming transfer window.
