According to reports from Don Balon, West Ham will look to seal a deal for Barcelona defender and Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Bartra during the summer transfer window.

Having struggled for game time since Luis Enrique’s appointment at the start of last season, receiving just three La Liga starts so far this term, Barcelona technical defender Robert Fernandez has already hinted the Spain international will be allowed to leave the Nou Camp during the summer transfer window.

And potential suitors are by no means in short supply. Manchester United are reportedly preparing a £9.5million transfer bid, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked and due to the Pep Guardiola connection, having been issued his competitive debut by the former Barcelona boss back in 2010, Manchester City are also in the mix to sign the 25-year-old.

But the latest reports from Spanish publication Don Balon moot an alternative admirer from the Premier League – West Ham United, who are chasing down a shock top four finish (and subsequent Champions League qualification) with just nine league fixtures of the season remaining.

It is claimed the Hammers will target Bartra and team-mate Thomas Vermaelen, formerly of Arsenal captain fame, during the coming transfer window. The defender’s contract includes a £19.5million release clause, but the Catalans are prepared to leave for around half that sum.
