Sadio Mane

According to reports from The Daily Star, Southampton are concerned they may have to slash their asking price for Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United transfer target Sadio Mane.

The Senegal star has certainly impressed since signing from Red Bull Salzburg in summer 2014. He netted 10 times in 30 Premier League outings last term and boasts a knack of producing the goods against heavyweight opponents, grabbing either a goal or an assist against Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League this season.

The Saints are set to cash-in during the coming transfer window. The 23-year-old has continually refused to extend his contract past summer 2018 and there is widespread interest in his services, most notably from City and United as well as Premier League champions Chelsea and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Recent reports have alleged Southampton are prepared to sell for £30million. But The Daily Star claim the club are growing increasingly concerned that Mane’s recent struggles for form, coupled with his contract winding down, could force them to slash his price-tag ahead of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, the speedy winger has struggled to find an effective role in Ronald Koeman’s new-look 3-5-2 formation and has now gone 18 games without a goal in the Premier League. But the Saints are already preparing for life without Mane, viewing Everton and Leicester City target Pione Sisto as a natural replacement.
