According to reports from Mirror Football, West Ham chairman David Sullivan has confirmed his interest in signing Liverpool striker Christian Benteke ahead of the summer transfer window.
The beastly Belgian moved to Merseyside in a £32.5million transfer from Aston Villa last summer but has plummeted down the pecking order since Jurgen Klopp took the managerial reins from Brendan Rodgers in October, going on to register just seven Premier League starts under the German gaffer.

Consequentially, recent reports have claimed the 25-year-old will be sold during the coming transfer window as Klopp looks to further implement his philosophy on the Anfield squad and West Ham have found themselves continuously linked with a summer swoop for the striker over the last few weeks.
According to Mirror Football, West Ham chairman David Sullivan has now confirmed the club’s interest in signing Benteke. They quote him as saying; “The problem is he is on such a huge wage that no club can afford him. But he is a player that we admire.”
Perhaps it is not the most overt clarification of whether the club will launch a bid for the £25million-rated frontman but the comments correspond with recent reports claiming West Ham will ask Liverpool to subsidise a chunk of Benteke’s £120k per week wages if he completes a summer transfer to East London.
