According to reports from The Daily Star, Liverpool have joined Manchester United and four more clubs in the race to sign Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli on a free transfer.

The Algerian international is regarded as one of La Liga’s better wide men outside of the top three, claiming six goals and six assists in 33 outings last season, but looks set to leave the Spanish top flight in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, the 26-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and plenty of clubs have expressed an interest in signing him on a free transfer.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were mooted as potential suitors ahead of the January transfer window but the latest reports from The Daily Star – who cite Spanish publication Don Balon – claim Liverpool and Manchester United are set to duke it out for Feghouli’s signature.

However, the Premier League duo face competition from Serie A, with AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma also chasing the African attacker.
