Caner Erkin

According to reports from Sabah, Chelsea and Manchester United are both targeting Fenerbahce left-back Caner Erkin ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old has amassed over 200 appearances across all competitions for the Super Lig outfit, alongside 42 caps with the Turkish national team, and has previously plied his trade with rivals Galatasaray, Maniaspor and CSKA Moscow.

Erkin’s contract expires at the end of the season and according to Sabah, Chelsea and Manchester United are looking to pick up the experienced full-back on a free transfer. Indeed, in addition to his impressive outlay for Turkey, the 5 foot 11 star has also made 37 appearances in European competitions throughout his career.

The Red Devils have failed to find a suitable understudy to their injured No.3 Luke Shaw this season, testing Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson in the role, whilst the Chelsea first team may have a vacancy at left-back this summer with the right-footed Cesar Azpilicueta likely returning to No.2 next term.

However, the Premier League duo face competition for Erkin’s signature from Serie A giants Roma.
