Chelsea face nine-man transfer exodus; Prodigious target to snub Arsenal for Barcelona

According to The Express, up to nine first-team players could leave Chelsea during the summer transfer window; whilst Sport report that Sergi Samper is set to snub interest from Arsenal to stay at Barcelona.

Chelsea were eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of PSG earlier this week, meaning their only chance of qualifying for the tournament next season is somehow overcoming a ten-point gap between themselves and fourth-placed Manchester City with just nine games of the 2015/16 Premier League season remaining.

Should they fail to do so, The Express claim the Blues face a wholesale exodus during the summer transfer window, with as many as nine members of their senior squad moving on to find Champions League football elsewhere.

Captain John Terry’s contract is yet to be extended beyond the end of the season, whilst Eden Hazard, Oscar, Nemanja Matic and Loic Remy are ‘almost certain’ to leave according to the British newspaper. Diego Costa, Pedro, Alexandre Pato and Radamel Falcao have also been tipped to follow them out of the exit door.

Meanwhile, Sport reveal that Barcelona prodigy Sergi Samper is set to snub interest from Arsenal during the summer transfer window to continue his development at the Nou Camp.

Arsenal have a history of snapping up disillusioned La Masia talents and the 21-year-old midfielder is the latest to emerge on their radar, with the Gunners reportedly considering a £4.4million bid for the summer transfer window – at which point his contract will have entered its final twelve months.

But according to Sport, the prodigious playmaker is keen to remain at the Nou Camp and Barcelona are ready to offer him a contract extension, ruling out any chance of a Gunners switch in the summer. The new deal is based on the assumption that Samper will be included more in first team affairs and essentially end his involvement with Barcelona B, having represented them for the last three season.
