According to reports from The Daily Mail, Chelsea are lining up Liverpool and Manchester United transfer target Gianluigi Donnarumma as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois.

The AC Milan starlet is just 17 years of age but has already earned No.1 status at the San Siro, muscling former Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez out of the starting line-up to register 47 saves and seven clean sheets in 22 Serie A outings this season.

A number of Premier League clubs have inevitably taken note of the teenager’s emphatic rise, including Liverpool and Manchester United. Indeed, the Red Devils are reportedly preparing a €40million bid for the summer transfer window, whilst the Italy U17 has been mooted as a potential replacement for Simon Mignolet at Anfield.

But Blues goalkeeper Marko Amelia recently told Milan TV that Donnarumma’s potential is often discussed by scouts and coaches at Stamford Bridge and The Daily Mail now claim the west London club are preparing a £30million transfer bid – viewing the 6 foot 5 shot-stopper as an ideal replacement for Thibaut Courtois.

Chelsea are determined to keep hold of the Belgium international this summer, to the extent that they’ve slapped him with a £70million price-tag, but fear they could be forced to accept an offer from admirers Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

Los Blancos were previously thought to be targeting Manchester United’s David De Gea but appear to have switched their attentions to the Chelsea No.1.
