According to reports from The Express, the agent of Manchester United target Marc Barta has strongly suggested he will look to leave Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

The Spain international remains highly-rated at the Nou Camp but hasn’t progressed as expected since making his debut back in 2010, going on to register just 99 appearances across all competitions and only three starts in La Liga so far this season.

But the 25-year-old defender has been attracting interest from the Premier League for some time and it was revealed last week that Manchester United are considering a £9.5million bid for the summer transfer window – coinciding with rumours that Jose Mourinho will look to sign a centre-back if he takes the Old Trafford hot seat.

A summer departure seems likely. Barta’s contract expires at the end of next season, making the coming transfer window Barcelona’s last chance to recoup a decent sum for the La Masia product before potentially losing him on a free transfer.

Furthermore, the centre-back’s agent, Javier Diaz, has been talking up a move. As quoted by The Express, he recently told Spanish radio station COPE; “I do not know what happens with Bartra but I know Marc is a very ambitious person and in a situation you should not like.

“That is very clear. As a footballer, I think the best thing to do is try to turn the tables. If it continues, it is normal to leave. Marc is playing less than last year. When you’re playing more and more, you can see the light. But if the first year you play 18 games, the second 25, third 28 and fourth 15 is normal things happen to you in the head.”
