According to reports from The Sun, potential suitors will have to fork out a staggering £63million to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen during the summer transfer window.

The German international is widely viewed as one of the most exciting young goalkeepers in world football but has found himself reserved almost exclusively for Copa del Rey and Champions League action since sealing a Nou Camp transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach in summer 2014, with Claudio Bravo filling the sticks in La Liga.

Consequentially, a number of Premier League sides have been alerted to the prospect of prizing the 23-year-old away from the Catalan club during the summer transfer window, having recently expressed his disillusionment towards the game-sharing situation with Bravo.

Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked in recent weeks, amid doubts over the futures of Simon Mignolet and David De Gea respectively, whilst The Sun claim Manchester City are targeting Ter Stegen as a potential replacement for understudy Willy Caballero.

But according to The Sun, who cite reports from Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona will only part with the 6 foot 2 shot-stopper during the coming transfer window if an interested party meets his £63million buyout fee – ensuring a £53million return on their original investment.

But it is further claimed that Liverpool and the Citizens are ready to double Ter Stegen’s Barcelona wages to entice him into a Premier League transfer – so they look likely to launch summer transfer bids regardless of the La Liga giants’ monolithic valuation.
