Arsenal - Mesut Ozil

According to Don Balon, Mesut Ozil will look to leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window unless they sack Arsene Wenger; whilst Mirror Football report that Tottenham Hotspur are targeting Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri.

The German World Cup winner has bagged five goals and 18 assists in 28 Premier League appearances this season but that has not been enough to stop another title bid imploding at the Emirates.

According to Don Balon, the attacking midfielder has grown so frustrated with Arsenal’s inability to challenge for the Premier League crown that he’ll look to leave the club during the summer transfer window unless they sack Arsene Wenger.

A return to former club Real Madrid remains Ozil’s preferred scenario, but the Spanish publication moot Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla as preferred alternative destinations.

Meanwhile, Mirror Football claim Tottenham Hotspur are targeting Jonathan Calleri, who was attracting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea earlier in the season, ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old is rated as one of Argentinian football’s most exciting prospects and netted 16 times in 46 appearances for Boca Juniors before being snapped up by an investment group and loaned to Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo in January.

Third party ownership is prohibited in the Premier League so Spurs would have to acquire the 5 foot 9 striker’s full playing rights. But that could still prove cheaper than signing other frontmen believed to be on their transfer hitlist and Calleri will be issued an Italian passport this summer – meaning he should be able to acquire a work permit with minimal fuss.
