According to Mirror Football, three Chinese clubs are targeting Manchester United star Juan Mata.

The Spain international has been one of United’s most dependable sources of goals since arriving from Chelsea in January 2014, notching up 19 goals in 73 Premier League appearances, but appears to be on his way out of Old Trafford.

Mirror Football claim the attacking midfielder is unlikely to be handed a contract extension past summer 2018 and recent reports have suggested he’ll almost definitely be sold if Jose Mourinho – who axed Mata whilst in charge at Stamford Bridge – is appointed Red Devils manager before next season.

The British newspaper further claim that three unnamed Chinese clubs have already made contact regarding a move to the Super League. The high-profile arrivals of Chelsea midfielder Ramires, Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira and Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez has seen Chinese football smash its record transfer fee three times over the last few weeks.

United reportedly value the 27-year-old at around £30million, a fee Atletico Madrid allegedly refused to match last month despite wanting to sign the former Valencia star, and Mirror Football quote an insider as saying; “Juan was happy to return to Spain but now the Chinese have shown their hands, the money is very difficult to turn down.”

The Chinese transfer window doesn’t close until February 26th, so interested parties still have nearly two weeks to agree a deal for the Spanish playmaker.
