Morata

According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Real Madrid will exercise a buy-back clause in Alvaro Morata’s contract next summer but could sell the striker to Liverpool or Manchester United.

The Spain international played a prominent role in Juve’s thrilling Champions League campaign last season, bagging five goals in twelve appearances including a strike against Barcelona in the tournament’s final, amid an impressive debut season with the Old Lady.

The 23-year-old has struggled to impact this term, having slumped down the pecking order considerably since the summer arrivals of Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala, but nonetheless remains highly-rated in his native Spain and particularly by former employers Real Madrid.

Los Blancos included a buy-back option in the deal that saw Morata move to Turin in summer 2014 and according to Calcio Mercato – who cite reports from Marca – they intend to activate it at the end of the season, at a cost of €32million.

However, both Calcio Mercato and Marca suggest the 6 foot 2 front-man could be moved on very quickly amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, with Real Madrid believing they could command a fee of around €50million from the Premier League duo.

The Italian publication claim the funds would likely be used to launch a swoop for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international has bagged 27 goals in 28 appearances this season and was linked with a summer switch to the Bernabeu last month, amid claims he’s keen to find a new challenge at the end of the season.
