Blaise Matuidi

According to The Sun, Chelsea are preparing a £39million swoop for PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi; whilst Mirror Football report that Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is a transfer target for Chinese clubs.

The 28-year-old has become an integral component of the Parisians’ starting Xi since signing from St. Etienne in 2011 and recently claimed the French Player of the Year award for 2015.

As an energetic midfielder who looks to contribute going forward and defensively, he’s notably similar in style to Ramires – who left Stamford Bridge for Jiangsu Suning in a £25million deal last month.

The Sun claim the Blues are now preparing a £39million bid and with just two years remaining on the 41-cap France international’s contract come the summer, Chelsea might be able to convince the Ligue 1 champions to sell.

Meanwhile, Mirror Football report that Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is a target for the Chinese Super League, following comments from former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson.

Amid an incredible transfer window of unprecedented spending, in which the transfer record has been broken three times already, a number of high-profile names have moved to the Chinese top flight, including the aforementioned Ramires, Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez, Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin, former Arsenal star Gervinho and Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Alex Teixeira.

And former Three Lions boss Eriksson, now in charge of Shanghai SIPG, has insisted it’s only a matter of time before a player of Wayne Rooney’s calibre moves to the Far East, with the Red Devils skipper already a name in mind.

As quoted by Mirror Football, he said during an interview with Swedish publication Expressen; “Who doesn’t want Rooney? But I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want to leave Manchester United. Not for this moment, anyway. Sooner or later, we are going to see names like Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney in this league — players on this level.”
