According to The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule out making any more signings before Monday’s deadline, whilst The Telegraph report that Newcastle United could still swoop for Chelsea striker Loic Remy.

The Reds gaffer was speaking at today’s pre-match conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash with West Ham in the FA Cup’s fourth round. He revealed that although he is happy with his current squad, the club are still open to making more signings before the January transfer window slams shut at 11pm on Monday evening.

As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, the German said; “We are always busy, we are always at work and checking the possibilities. That’s what we’ve done since I’ve been here and now the window is close to closing. If something happens you will see but there is nothing to say in this moment. If we were close to something then everything I would say now would disturb this so you have to wait.

“I am fine with the squad I have – no problem with this. The squad wasn’t a problem, not for one second, it’s all about injuiries and the number of games. We have thought about a few things, but only if it makes real sense for us.”

Meanwhile, The Telegraph report that Newcastle United will launch a late swoop for Chelsea striker Loic Remy if they receive no encouragement from West Bromwich Albion in their pursuit of wantaway forward Saido Berahino.

The 22-year-old has been the Magpies’ main strike target during the January transfer window but the Baggies don’t want to sell and Berahino reportedly has his heart set on a move to Tottenham Hotspur – even if it doesn’t happen this month.

Unless there is a drastic change in the situation during the last few days of the transfer window, Newcastle will focus their attentions on Remy instead. The France international has made just one start in the Premier League this season and is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge to improve his chances of making it into Didier Deschamps’ Euro 2016 squad.

The 29-year-old bagged 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances during a prior spell on Tyneside and Steve McClaren is open to acquiring his services either on loan or permanently.
