Loic Remy

According to reports from Mirror Football, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Chelsea striker Loic Remy on loan this month.

The France international has seen just 146 minutes’ worth of action in the Premier League this season, scoring once, and will be desperate to secure more regular playing time ahead of next summer’s European Championship on his home soil.

Mirror Football report that the Lilywhites are targeting the 29-year-old for a loan move, viewing him as ideal back-up for first-choice frontman Harry Kane. But a few key issues could prevent a deal from taking place.

First of all, Spurs are by no means alone in their pursuit of the former Marseille man, who has been linked with Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Newcastle – to name a few – in recent weeks.

Secondly, the Blues are reluctant to let Remy leave without sourcing a replacement first, especially with fellow frontman Radamel Falcao reportedly in talks over a move to the MLS.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, Chelsea will struggle to justify loaning Remy to a club currently ten places and 14 points above them in the Premier League table.
