According to Eurosport, defender Gary Cahill is hoping to leave Chelsea this month; whilst The Guardian report that Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend has completed a £12million move to Newcastle United.
The 30-year-old defender has been issued just eleven Premier League starts this season and only one since Guus Hiddink’s appointment last month, with the Blues’ interim manager preferring John Terry and Kurt Zouma as his centre-back partnership.

According to Eurosport, who cite Reuters, the former Bolton man is keen to leave the club before the end of the January transfer window amid fears his place in the England squad for next summer’s European Championships has come under threat due to a lack of game-time.
Roy Hodgson does have a number of alternative centre-backs at his disposal, including Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Phil Jagielka, John Stones and Ryan Shawcross. According to The Daily Mail, however, Chelsea won’t let their five-year servant leave unless they receive an ‘unbelievable’ offer.

The two clubs agreed a £12million fee earlier this week and much like Gary Cahill, the 24-year-old is leaving White Hart Lane to improve his chances of making it into Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016. He hadn’t featured for the north London club since a Europa League outing in October and hasn’t played a full ninety minutes in the Premier League in nearly two years.
According to The Guardian, the Three Lions winger is now an official Newcastle player, having passed a medical on Tyneside earlier today. Townsend is believed to have signed a five-and-a-half-year contract.
