Arjen Robben

According to reports from Manchester Evening News, Manchester United target Arjen Robben has attempted to address speculation over his future by insisting he’s happy at Bayern Munich.

The 31-year-old has prior history with Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal. They won a Bundesliga title at Bayern Munich in 2010 and reached the World Cup semi-finals together with the Netherlands in 2014.

LVG took the Old Trafford helm immediately after the tournament in Brazil and attempted to make the 88-cap Oranje star one of his first signings as United boss, but Robben politely refused the offer and stayed on at the Allianz Arena.

With his contract set to expire at the end of next season, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid star was linked with a United switch once again last month – in no small part due to van Gaal informing the press of his desire to sign a ‘speedy winger‘ in January.

But Robben has sought to quash speculation of an imminent return to the Premier League, insisting that he’s more than happy with life in Bavaria.

As quoted by Manchester Evening News, he said; “I am happy in Munich – my family is happy in Munich. My contract runs until 2017. You can’t look too far forward in football, but everything is fine at the moment – I hope things continue this way.”
