According to reports from The Daily Star, six Premier League clubs – including Liverpool and Manchester United – are targeting Leeds United youngster Lewis Cook.

The 18-year-old has been likened to Red Devils legend Paul Scholes and is one of the most exciting prospects in the Football League, having already registered 50 Championship appearances since making his debut at the start of last season.

The teenage midfielder claimed the Young Player of the Year award at Elland Road last term, alongside the Championship’s Apprentice of the Year award, and is continuing to impress this season with averages of 2.8 tackles, 1.1 created chances and 1.1 successful dribbles per match.

He’s also developed quite the reputation within the England camp, having taken part in the Three Lions’ trophy-winning U17 European Championship campaign in 2014 and amassed a total of 24 caps at youth level.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been keeping close tabs on Cook according to The Daily Star. But they’re now faced with fresh competition for his signature from Premier League rivals Bournemouth and Stoke City.

The prodigious midfielder is valued at around the £10million mark and is reportedly considering his future at Elland Road due to Massimo Cellino’s chaotic running of the club since taking ownership in 2014. His current contract expires at the end of next season.

A Leeds source has said; “He knows he will have to leave Leeds to fulfil his ambitions and he wants to play in the Premier League.”
