According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Liverpool and Southampton have both ‘made approaches’ to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

The 23 year-old rose to acclaim at former club Hellas Verona, playing a pivotal role in their 2012/13 promotion from Serie B. He bagged seven goals in 18 appearances the following season as Verona honed in on a shock top half finish, only for Napoli to prize him away from Gialloblu in January 2014.

Jorginho was tipped to become a shining star at Stadio San Paolo but has struggled for game time, managing just 13 league appearances last term and only three starts out of a possible seven this season.

According to The Express, who cite reports from Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Premier League duo Liverpool and Southampton are now looking to take the Brazilian off Napoli’s hands.

They claim both clubs have already ‘made an approach’ to sign Jorginho, with Liverpool particularly keen as Jurgen Klopp plans a January reshuffle. It’s believed Napoli’s valuation of the midfielder lays somewhere between the £15million and £22million mark.
