According to reports from The Express this evening, Chelsea are ‘lining up a shock move’ for FC Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula.

The 23 year-old left Marseille for the Primeira Liga outfit in July, costing them a fee just shy of £15million, after registering 76 appearances in two seasons with the Stade Velodrome outfit. But he’s reportedly struggled to settle in Portugal and could well be moved on in the next few transfer windows.

The former France U21 attracted plenty of Premier League interest during the summer transfer window. Chelsea and Tottenham were both linked with him in June whilst The Express claim Arsenal were also keen on a deal – and claim the Gunners are still in the race to sign him.

According to the British newspaper, who cite reports from French publication L’Equipe, the Premier League champions have already made contact with Imbula’s agent and are now weighing up a bid.

The news comes after the former Ligue 2 Player of the Year featured in Porto’s 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
