Chelsea to launch bid for £29m-rated ‘new Busquets’ next summer

According to reports from London Evening Standard this morning, Chelsea will launch a bid for Porto prodigy Ruben Neves next summer.

The defensive midfielder, who team-mate Cristian Tello has compared to Barcelona’s formidable anchor man Sergio Busquets, has already emerged as a regular member of the Dragons’ first team at just 18 years of age, last term registering 37 appearances across all competitions. He also featured for runners-up Portugal during the summer’s U21 European championship.

Reports earlier this month revealed Chelsea’s interest in the 5 foot 11 midfielder and the Evening Standard claim the west London outfit are now preparing a bid, after Neves helped Porto to a 2-1 win over the Blues in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

They believe the bid will ‘almost certainly’ be made next summer rather than in the January transfer window, but also claim the Premier League champions are reluctant to meet Neves’ release clause, a pricey £29million, in full.
