Out - Didier Drogba

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport via Football Italia,  Chelsea legend Didier Drogba could join Serie A outfit Bologna on loan in January.

The iconic front-man claimed four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three Capital One Cups and a Champions League title during his two stints at Stamford Bridge, and in 2012 was voted as the club’s greatest ever player.

The former Ivory Coast international left Chelsea for a second time during the summer and has since found strong form for Montreal Impact, netting eleven times in his first eleven MLS appearances.

It had been suggested the Blues could look to re-sign the veteran front-man in the January transfer window – the MLS off-season runs from December to March – following an underwhelming start to the season from their current strike-force. Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao had found just league four goals between them before this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures.

But Jose Mourinho ruled out a third return to west London for the 6 foot 2 striker yesterday, telling reporters; “Do you want me to compare the Premier League with the MLS? Didier will always offer something to a club and the group that loves him and that he loves – no doubt about it. But will I bring him back? No.”

And according to Corriere dello Sport, Drogba could now be in line for a January move to Serie A instead. Canadian business man Joey Saputo owns both Montreal Impact and Bologna, the club who find themselves at 18th in the Italian table with the worst goals for record in the division – scoring just six times in 10 games.

Drogba would be an ideal candidate to help them stave off relegation, whilst maintaining his fitness levels during the MLS winter break. The 34 year-old is likely to receive alternative offers, however, and nothing in Corriere dello Sport’s report suggests he has already agreed to a move.
