According to reports from Football Italia and The Daily Star, the agent of Arsenal and Manchester United target Daniele Rugani has suggested his client could be on the move during the January transfer window.
Juventus signed the 6 foot 2 centre-back in summer 2013 but allowed him to continue his development at boyhood club Empoli over the last two seasons as part of a co-ownership agreement. He featured in every minute of the Stadio Carlo Castellani outfit’s 2014/15 league campaign to help them secure a 15th place finish in the top flight.
The 21 year-old returned to Turin in the summer but has so far seen just a minutes’ worth of action at senior level, coming on in the dying embers of Juve’s 2-0 win over Sevilla in the Champion League last month.
Earlier in October, an unnamed source claimed Rugani would welcome a January move to “Arsenal or other important English clubs” following a failed £13million bid from the Gunners during the summer. The Daily Star, meanwhile, claim Manchester United are also interested in signing the Italy U21.
And as reported by Football Italia, Rugani’s agent has now has his say on a potential departure in the new year – albeit focusing on recent rumours alleging a move to Napoli.
Agent Davide Torchia told RadioCrc; “Daniele has always liked the club but that doesn’t mean there’s an ongoing negotiation. It’s undeniable that Rugani is sorry to have played so little at Juventus, he isn’t depressed but can’t wait to get his chance.
“However, we’re bound by time, if we don’t see a radical change between now and December then we will see. Sarri [the Napoli boss who managed Rugani at Empoli] has taught Rugani so much and it’s normal that the player has an eye on the coach. Juventus don’t want to sell at the moment but in December we will have to analyse the situation.”
