According to reports from The Express this morning, Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba snubbed a summer move to Chelsea despite the two clubs agreeing a £62million fee.

Former Manchester United youngster Pogba has emerged as one of world football’s leading centre-mids since swapping Old Trafford for the Old Lady in summer 2012.

At the age of 22 he’s already claimed three Serie A titles, the 2013 Golden Boy award, 23 caps for the France national team and a Champions League runner-up medal, leading to interest in his services from Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, and former club United this summer – according to The Express.

The Blues were in negotiations with the Serie A champions during the final week of the transfer window but failed to get a deal over the line.

And the British newspaper, citing Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, claim that was due to Pogba rejecting the chance to join the Premier League champions.

They allege bid of £62million plus a player in exchange was accepted by the Turin outfit whilst agent Mino Raiola had agreed an £8.7million per-year contract for his client, only for the France international to pull the plug on the deal.

Juve chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has since warned potential suitors may have to pay ‘more than €100million’ to sign the 6 foot 2 midfielder next summer.

He said earlier this week; “As we want to win, we have decided to keep hold of a player as important as Pogba, although we have had offers from some very important club. In the future he could be worth more than €100million.”
