According to reports from The Express this morning, Arsenal failed in a deadline day swoop for Juventus striker Simone Zaza due to his £22.1million price-tag.

The Gunners are believed to have attempted a number of potential striker signings yesterday, including PSG front-man Edinson Cavani, after giving up on their summer-long pursuit of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.

Another option on their radar was Juventus striker Simone Zaza, who has amassed an impressive 49 goals in 117 league appearances throughout spells with Viareggio, Ascoli and Sassuolo and recently broken into the Italian national team, with one goal and five caps since his 2014 debut.

In July, Juve exercised their right to repurchase the 24 year-old from Sassuolo for €18million, a clause inserted into Mapei Stadium transfer last summer. But after acquiring Paulo Dybala from Palermo and Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid, an abrupt end to Zaza’s Turin tenure was by no means out of the question yesterday.

According to The Express, however, who claim Tottenham have also explored the 6 foot 1 forward as an option this summer, the Gunners refused to meet Juve’s £22.1million valuation.

It’s a similar story with Cavani – Arsene Wenger allegedly viewing his £50million price-tag as financially unjustifiable. That leaves Arsenal as the only club in Europe’s five leading top flights not to sign an outfield player this summer.

No surprise at all in fact Wanger did not want to buy either a front man nor a defensive midfielder it was all a gimmick from the start of the transfer season. Arsenal have in fact only Giroud as a centre forward as neither Walcott , Sanchez and even Wellback are wingers as Mr. Arsene is telling us that they are front men but in fact they are not and maybe that is why they are not giving their best ! Arsenal playing is getting more and more predictable without the ability to score and a the back another central defender is needed as again why play Chambers as central defender when you know he is a right back ? There is Gabriel therefore play him as a central defender. It seems that the 4th place of the table is fine as it gets Arsenal a place in Europe but this season luck needs to be on the Gonners side as else the middle of the table is more plausible. Arsenal need players the likes of the BVB stamina and ability in order to succeed and grab the EPL title and the Champions league otherwise ! ! ! !
