Adrien Rabiot

According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday evening, Arsenal held talks with PSG on Monday regarding a double swoop for striker Edinson Cavani and midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The Gunners have been unsuccessful in their summer-long courtship of Real Madrid front-man Karim Benzema and have now turned to Cavani as a likeminded alternative.

Much like the Bernabeu star, the Uruguay international is famed for his blend of physicality and goals, measuring in at 6 foot and boasting prolific returns of 56 goals in 96 appearances for PSG and 104 in 138 for former club Napoli.

He’d certainly remedy Arsenal’s lack of firepower, with the north London outfit recording less than a goal per game during their first four Premier League outings this season.

And according to The Mail, the Gunners have also enquired into midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who was linked with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer after his agent and mother, Veronique Rabiot, had requested he leave Parc de Princes due to a lack of first team opportunities. He’s also believed to have toured the Lilywhites training ground, the Enfield Training Facility, towards the end of last season.

The 20 year-old is widely regarded as one of the more exiting prospects within the France fold, having represented them at youth level on 41 occasions, and once spent a short stint with Manchester City’s academy in 2008.

The British newspaper picture Emirates boss Arsene Wenger at Paris airport to validate their claims of last-minute negotiations with the Ligue 1 champions. But with less than nine hours until the 6pm deadline, a deal for either player is still unlikely.
