According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Real Madrid have declared their interest in PSG front-man Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The iconic Swede boasts 106 goals in 126 appearances for the Parc de Princes outfit, including a return of 30 goals in 35 outings this season, firing them to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
But recent speculation suggests the 33 year-old’s Parisians tenure could come to an abrupt end this summer. Last month, it was revealed that PSG don’t intend to extend his contract past the end of next season – at which point they’ll target three-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo – leading to crisis talks with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi in Doha.
Liverpool and Manchester United have both been mooted as potential suitors of the 6 foot 5 front-man, who boasts titles in the Eredivisie, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1, but it appears Real Madrid have now entered the race for his signature.
According to The Express, who cite Spanish newspaper Sport, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen to bring Ibrahimovic to the Bernabeu this summer and recently met PSG representatives in Qatar to discuss a potential deal.
How well the news will sit with the Los Blancos fan base remains to be seen. Zlatan famously spent a season with El Classico rivals Barcelona, winning a league title before joining AC Milan in summer 2010.
