Rudiger

According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Chelsea have launched a £12.8million bid for Stuttgart starlet Antonio Rudiger.

The 22 year-old has performed well since moving to the Mercedes Benz Arena from the Borussia Dortmund academy in 2008, registering 66 Bundesliga appearances following his 2011 debut.

And the 6 foot 3 centre-back’s rise has attracted interest from the Premier League, with Manchester United allegedly launching an enquiry into his availability last summer – according to The Independent.

But last month came reports of the German international attempting to force through a Stamford Bridge move, allegedly telling brother and agent Sahr Senesie to do everything in his power to broker a deal with the Premier League champions.

And according to The Express, who cite Stuttgarter Nachrichten, the Blues have now reciprocated that interest by launching an official £12.8million bid.

That does contradict with prior reports from the same British newspaper, however, who claimed in May that Rudiger would be available to the west Londoners through a £7million release clause.
