Atletico Madrid are targeting Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla and Chelsea’s Juan Cuadrado as potential replacements for departing winger Arda Turan, according to reports from The Express and Spanish publication AS, via the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (see 08.29).
Agent Ahmet Bulut has already revealed the Turkey skipper’s intentions to leave Vincente Calderon this summer and according to reports this morning his £29million move to Barcelona could be concluded before the end of the week.
Atletico are now considering potential replacements, which saw them linked with Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla on Monday. The Spain international has just come to the end of a stellar campaign at the Emirates, but with just two seasons left on his contract and now 30 years of age, Arsene Wenger could be convinced to cash in.
But according to reports from AS this morning, the Mattress Makers are also targeting Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado, who has struggled to impact since arriving at Stamford Bridge for £23million in January.
It coincides with reports claiming Jose Mourinho is desperate to recoup as much of the club’s original investment as possible, and has resultantly touted the Colombian international to Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus.
Atletico are expected to take £29million from the sale of Turan, so could feasibly afford either the Arsenal midfielder or the Chelsea forward.
