Marco Reus

According to reports from ESPN yesterday afternoon, Borussia Dortmund have issued a hands-off warning to potential suitors of in-demand attacker Marco Reus.

The German international boasts a prolific haul of 37 goals and 27 assists in 82 Bundesliga outings for the Westfalen outfit since joining them from Borussia Monchengladbach in summer 2012.

He’s since helped fire Dortmund to consecutive DFL Super Cups and the 2013 Champions League final, whilst claiming the Bundesliga’s Player of the Year award for 2014.

Reus signed a contract until 2019 in February but the Black-Yellows’ failure to qualify for the Champions League and the subsequent sacking of Jurgen Klopp could force the 26 year-old to reconsider his options.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with the 5 foot 11 forward this summer, with the latter viewing him as an ideal replacement for now-Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, whilst ESPN also moot Bayern Munich and Juventus as potential suitors. ESPN rate Reus at around £48million – claiming the Gunners are preparing bid of that exact sum.

But Borussia Dortmund’s head of communications, Sascha Fligge, has insisted the 25-cap international won’t be sold this summer. As quoted by ESPN, he said; “Marco Reus will not leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. That’s a 100 percent certainty.”
