According to reports from The Express this morning, Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is keen to force through a summer move to Chelsea, despite having to play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.
The Blues have wasted no time in pursuing the Bosnian international following Petr Cech’s confirmed move to Arsenal on Monday, tabling a £6million bid on the same afternoon – which the Potters eventually rejected.
Regardless, the 27 year-old is still widely expected to leave the Britannia this summer as his contract enters its final 12 months, with Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes recently admitting the 6 foot 6 shot stopper has probably held talks with interested parties already.
But according to The Express, Begovic is now desperate to force through a summer move to Chelsea; despite knowing he’ll be brought in as an understudy to Thibaut Courtois, who usurped Cech from his No.1 berth last season.
In order to sign him, however, the Premier League champions will have to up the ante somewhat. Stoke – who allegedly value the former Portsmouth man at around £10million – have already branded a bid from Aston Villa as ‘derisory’, and last week requested Victor Moses in exchange for Begovic, following his impressive loan spell with the Potters last season.
