According to reports from Mirror Football this afternoon, Wolfsburg are preparing a £100k per-week contract offer for star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
The Belgium international failed to make the grade during his two years at Chelsea but has proved an absolute revelation since moving to the Bundesliga for an £18million fee in January 2014.
During the 2014/15 campaign, he claimed ten goals and twenty assists – the most assists of any player in Europe’s five leading top flights – from 35 Bundesliga appearances, which has understandably triggered some interest from the Premier League.
Whilst Arsenal and Manchester United have been mooted as potential suitors, agent Patrick de Koster revealed last month that Bayern Munich, Manchester City and PSG have all made ‘informal contact‘ regarding the 23 year-old’s availability.
Wolfsburg, however, are reluctant to sell as they attempt to assemble a side capable of ending Bayern Munich’s sustained dominance in the German top flight, having finished second in the Bundesliga last season.
Resultantly, they’re hoping De Bruyne will snub his suitors from the Premier League and yonder by agreeing a £100k per-week contract extension at the Volkswagen Arena.
