Mourinho has built an empire in preparation for this season

According to reports from The Evening Standard yesterday afternoon, Arsenal and Chelsea are both targeting Augsburg left-back Abdul Rahman Baba.

The 20 year-old has just come to the end of a sensational campaign with the SGL arena outfit, bagging four assists in 31 appearances whilst averaging the second-most tackles, 3.5, of any player in the division, which has lead The Standard to describe him as ‘the best left-back in the Bundesliga last season’.

It’s also generated plenty of interest in the Ghana international, who has already claimed eleven caps for his country and represented them at the 2015 African Cup of Nations. In addition to Arsenal and Chelsea, Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United United – as well as Real Madrid – have been mooted as potential suitors over the last few months.

Chelsea are considering Abdul Rahman Baba as a potential replacement for Filipe Luis, who could return to Atletico Madrid after just one season at Stamford Bridge, but rumours of a £10.6million bid for the defender have been deemed false by The Standard.

It’s believed Augsburg’s valuation is closer to £15million.
