According to reports from The Express last week, Arsenal and Chelsea’s rumoured bidding war for Augsburg defender Abdul Rahman Baba has been dubbed ‘pure speculation’ by manager Stefan Reuter.
The 20 year-old has just come to the end of a sensational campaign with the SGL arena outfit, bagging four assists in 31 appearances whilst averaging the second-most tackles per match, 3.5, of any player in the division, which has lead The Evening Standard to describe him as ‘the best left-back in the Bundesliga last season’.
It’s also generated plenty of rumours regarding Abdul Rahman Baba’s future with the German outfit. Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid were all linked in May, whilst reports last week claimed Chelsea had launched a £10million bid for the Ghana international with Arsenal expected to follow suit.
But according to Augsburg boss Stefan Reuter, the club are yet to receive any formal offers for the in-demand left-back – dubbing recent reports as ‘pure speculation’.
He recently told German publication Kicker; “There is nothing concrete on our desk regarding Rahman Baba. We are excited by his performances for our club and we can say that he has said he is happy to be here.
“The rumours are pure speculation at the moment,” he added.
Regardless, it’s believed the club value Abdul Rahman Baba at around £15million.
