Radamel Falcao

According to reports from The Express this morning, Manchester United loan flop Radamel Falcao is ‘desperate’ to join Premier League champions Chelsea this summer.

The 29 year-old has endured a rather underwhelming year at Old Trafford in comparison to his prolific spells with FC Porto and Atletico Madrid. He netted 142 in 178 appearances for both clubs combined, firing them to nine trophies, but has bagged just four goals in all competitions for the Red Devils since joining them on a lucrative loan deal from Monaco last summer.

Manchester United have decided not to make the Colombian international’s loan move permanent – as revealed by the club’s official website after their scoreless draw with Hull City on the final day of the Premier League season.

But according to The Express, Falcao is determined to stay in the English top flight by joining United’s divisional rivals Chelsea.

The Blues came close to signing the 5 foot 10 front man in summer 2013 – as reported by The Daily Mail in April 2013 – until they were eclipsed by a £55million Monaco bid, with manager Jose Mourinho believed to be a keen admirer. And interestingly enough, the Chelsea gaffer and Falcao have the same agent – the notorious Jorge Mendes.

To be fair, last summer when we were linked with Falcao, Mourinho said that the only reason we weren’t in for him (and di Maria) was his wages. If he is indeed desperate to come to Stamford Bridge, perhaps he might be willing to lower his demands?

I’m not entirely convinced by him to be honest, at his best he is (was?) clearly incredible but he seems to have passed his physical peak. Even the basic stuff he used to be amazing at (like heading) seems to be beyond him. Would rather keep hold of Rémy.
