According to reports from The Independent this morning, Liverpool have launched an enquiry into the availability of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.
The Belgium international is amid a sensational run of twelve goals in his last twelve appearances across all competitions and could cap it off with a winning performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup final next Sunday.
But manager Tim Sherwood has admitted the 24 year-old could force a move away from Villa Park this summer, as This Is Futbol revealed in April.
Since, the Birmingham outfit have reportedly issued the 6 foot 3 target-man a £30million price-tag, whilst Benteke is believed to be eyeing a move to Liverpool despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
And The Independent now claim the Merseysiders have made the first significant move in the race for the former Genk prodigy’s signature by launching an official enquiry. With just two years remaining on his Villa Park deal, they’re hoping to sign Benteke for £20million – 33% less than Villa’s valuation.
