Subotic

According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, alleged Arsenal and Manchester United target Neven Subotic has signed a two-year contract extension at Borussia Dortmund.

The Serbian international has demonstrated a remarkable consistency during his seven campaigns with the Black-Yellows, predominantly serving as the understated centre-back partner to 2014 World Cup winner Mats Hummels.

The German international has reportedly rejected a summer move to Old Trafford in favour of staying on at Westfalen, despite the resignation of enigmatic manager Jurgen Klopp – as This Is Futbol revealed last week – and Subotic has now followed suit by penning extended terms.

The 26 year-old’s previous contract expired at the end of the 2015/16 campaign, and Arsenal and Manchester United were resultantly considering summer bids according to The Daily Star.

But Subotic has now signed a contract until 2018, ending any chance of a Premier League move this summer.

“I’m extremely happy about my decision to stay with BVB,” Subotic said upon the announcement of his new deal.

“Dortmund has now become my second home. I’m now looking forward to a successful future with our team and our fantastic fans behind us.

“We have a great deal to do in the immediate future, and I want to make a big contribution.”

Fun Fact: In 2010, Subotic record a dance anthem called ‘Kings of Africa‘ with Serbian rapper Filip Filipe.
