Right Back - Nathaniel Clyne

According to reports from The Independent this morning, Southampton have rejected a £10million Liverpool bid for right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The 23 year-old has enjoyed excellent form this season, averaging the fifth-most tackles per match, 3.3, of any Premier League player as part of a Saints defence who finished the campaign with the second-best goals conceded record in the division.

That’s seen him emerge as the first choice No.2 within the England fold and also attract interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month.

They believe the south coast outfit could be forced to cash-in this summer with just a year remaining on Clyne’s contract, but earlier this month came news that the Three Lions starlet had entered negotiations over an extension at St. Mary’s – as reported by This Is Futbol.

But reports this morning suggest there have been further revelations, with the Saints turning down a £10million offer from Liverpool – who are in need of a long-term replacement to bosman-bound right-back Glen Johnson.

According to This Is Futbol, Clyne’s other suitors would be prepared to pay around £17million.
