According to reports from The Metro this afternoon, Tottenham are planning a £10.8million summer bid for Marseille prodigy Florian Thauvin.

The 22 year-old is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Ligue 1. He’s claimed 14 goals in 30 appearances for France across the junior levels, ranging from U18 to U19, and has been compared to Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery by Toulouse manager Alain Casanova – as reported by The Guardian in January 2014.

He’s been in strong form this season too, bagging five goals and four assists in 32 league appearances whilst averaging 2.1 shots, 1.5 created chances and 2.5 successful dribbles per match.

With L’OM facing enormous financial troubles, however, The Metro claim they could be forced to sell the attacking midfielder this summer.

Spurs are resultantly expected to launch a bid just upwards of £10million. But long-term interest from local rivals Arsenal, who were mooted as keen suitors of Thauvin’s by The Daily Star ahead of the January transfer window, could prove problematic.
