Tottenham and West Ham target will ‘hold talks’ over future

Kevin Mirallas

According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday evening, Everton boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed he’ll hold talks with wantaway winger Kevin Mirallas at the end of the season, regarding the 27 year-old’s immediate future.

It’s been an interesting campaign for the Belgium international. He’s currently the Toffees’ third-top scorer in the Premier League with five goals in 15 starts, but incensed fans earlier in the season when he confiscated the ball from spot kick specialist Leighton Baines to take a penalty against West Brom – only to spoon his effort wide of goal.

Fitness problems have since seen him float in and out of the starting Xi, but Mirallas’ immediate aspirations appear to exceed Everton’s.

“Every player needs to be pleased and happy with that, so in the summer we’ll sit down and assess what has been. For that reason the next seven games are vital and will give you a much clearer picture of what you do in the summer,” said Martinez.

Tottenham and West Ham were both linked with the winger by Mirror Football earlier this week, with the British tabloid also claiming he’s seeking a ‘new challenge’ for next season.

Whether the London clubs can provide that, however, remains to be seen. They’ll almost certainly finish higher in the table than Everton this term after a disappointing league campaign for the Goodison outfit, but neither will qualify for the Champions League – which, according to The Daily Mail, remains Mirallas’ ultimate ambition.
