According to reports from ESPN this afternoon, Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has insisted coveted left-back Jose Luis Gaya will sign a new contract at the Mestalla, rather than join one of his many suitors this summer.
Valencia have a knack of producing talented left-backs and Gaya is the latest to emerge from a conveyor belt that also produced now-Barcelona star Jordi Alba and Liverpool hotshot Alberto Moreno.
Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were all linked with the 19 year-old by The Express earlier this week, amid revelations that his current contract includes a release clause of just £12.8million.
But Valencia’s president has now claimed the Spain U21, who has found four assists in 28 La Liga outings this season, will sign an improved deal to eradicate his miserly buy-out fee.
Responding to reports claiming a summer move to Real Madrid could be on the cards for the teenage prodigy, Salvo informed the press on Friday; “Gaya will renew with Valencia, he’s not joining Madrid. You can quote me on that in your respective newspapers.”
Gaya’s current contract expires in 2018.
